Details

San Pietro Residence is situated in Sala Consilina, in Vallo di Diano, which, from the high top of Cervati to the wide valley below, shows itself hospitable with everyone who looks for a quite vacation among history, nature, traditions and flavours of the past.
Our building, setting in a manor-house of the end of Eight-hundred, near the main square of the town and the historical centre, distinguishes itself by the stillness and the silence, preserved by the ancient walls and the wide spaces; staying here overnight is like taking a plunge in the past. The house, left for years, was carefully and patiently restructured and, even if it’s provided with every comfort and with a veil of contemporaneity, keeps untouched the architectonic peculiarities that make it known as “The Castle”.
The big daytime zone is characterized by the wide living room and it takes delight in a pleasant view over the valley; meanwhile the night time zone turns quietly to the historical centre of the town.
The guests could choose for their stay among the sky-blue room, the flowers’ one or the suite, provided with kitchen- living room. The rooms included toilette and are furnished with ancient pieces of furniture that favour the charm of the structure.

The “Vallo di Diano” is in province of Salerno, in the far south of Campania, not far from the border with Basilicata and near Calabria. “Similar in the form to a small boat” the plain extends for about forty Kilometres.
The towns, risen in times past on the slopes of the surrounding mountains, offer places of great artistic and historical beauty, which open the heart of the visitors and catch them, who look forward to go away from a frenetic and, let us say, a little bit neurotic life. Walking along the immense cloister of the glamorous and wonderful St. Laurence Charterhouse (Certosa di San Lorenzo), halting in the very ancient hall of the “Battistero di San Giovanni in Fonte”, built on a perpetual source, picturing on the visible ruins the colossal walls that in IV century B.C. surrounded Atena Lucana, will give back serenity and enrich everyone who wants to stay and discover these treasures.
Moreover the territory belongs to the “Parco del Cilento e Vallo di Diano” and this will make possible plunge in an unpolluted nature to find again forgotten rhythms and to reveal delights, unknown for someone. Guided or lonely excursions, according to the difficulty of the way and/or the ability of people participating, allow to space from the tops of the highest mountains in Campania, those of the Monte Cervati, to the bowels of the earth, those of the “Grotte di Pertosa”, passing through unique places from a naturalistic point of view. “The Valley of the Orchids” (Valle delle Orchidee) will amaze us with its fragrances and colours and we could feel for a day like explorers passing through the long underground tunnel that leads to the “Affondatore di Vallivona”, an imposing and unique place, from a naturalistic point of view, for its particular micro clime.

Go along the Vallo di Diano, not too far from its borders, other places let us spend unforgettable moments.
The fortunately barycentric position of the Vallo compared with Campania, Basilicata and Calabria , makes its territory, from old times, a point of winding and break for the old trades and a perfect starting-point for explorations of different and interesting places.
In the South (ca 70 - 80 km) wonderful and equidistant coasts that from Cilento go down towards Calabria passing through the pearl of Basilicata, Maratea, let us take delight in extremely different landscapes: from the great sandy and comfortable beach to the impervious rocky coast, which, falling in the sea, hides very rich sounding-depth.
Going up gradually again the coast and pushing in the inland, which goes from Agropoli to Camerota, become visible natural sceneries that mark the generous lend of Cilento. Here, several excursions let discover a territory where peoples and civilization blending in the course of ages left obvious traces in each aspect of life, entering and traditions that take place there.
In the South (50 – 60 km) Grumento Nova, laid down in the heart of the near Valle dell’Agri, not far from the ruins of the ancient Lucania (Grumentum), preserves old ruins which date back up to the Roman times whether in the National Museum or in the Archaeological Park.

In the North then the beauties of Campania: the ancient Paestum (90 km), Salerno (110 km) and the wonderful Amalfi’s coast, Pompei and its excavations, and at least Naples, Caserta with its wonderful Royal Palace and the Old City are easy to reach by the speedway A3.
