Details
The B&B “Sot i volz” owes its name to some architectural elements which characterize the whole house complex: the 16th century arches and cross vaults. They are still visible and well preserved and they represent the typical Carnic civil architecture of that period. Originally the complex belonged to the ancient Somma family. Owners have changed with the passing of time and presently the B&B is run by the De Colle-Di Ronco family, which has been living there for a few years now. This small but welcoming farm-house style complex, with its own courtyard bounded by a wooden fence, is located in the historical center of Piano d’Arta and it enjoys a delightful and sunny position (about 600 m a.s.l.). Some of the rooms inside the house are at guests’ disposal, among which there is a ground-floor room called “sot i volz”. To reach this room you have to pass through a hall full of history, characterized by cross vaults. The sleep area consists of one double and of one single bed (accommodation for three people), of cupboards and a wardrobe, of chairs and a table. If needed, a children’s bed can be added. Moreover there is a private bathroom and a small space where you can find a fridge and a sink. The entire room is furnished with wooden furniture and the ceiling has wooden beams and paneling, so as to create a warm and friendly atmosphere. Those guests who choose to sleep in this room can also relax in the next reading room, characterized by some unique and exclusive details, which tell you the story of Carnia and of its inhabitants. A substantial and genuine breakfast, prepared with typical local food products, is served in the living room of the De Colle-Di Ronco family, sot i volz (under the vaults), on the first floor. Thanks to the strategic position of the B&B it is easier for guests to follow cultural itineraries (a tour of the various small towns and of their museums: Zuglio, Tolmezzo, Treppo, Paluzza, Sutrio), sport itineraries (skiing on the ski slopes of Mt Zoncolan), excursion itineraries (on the way to the shepherd’s huts or to the highest peaks of the Region, etc.) or to simply relax (at the wellness center of Arta Terme, at the play center for children, at the riding ground). Not far away from the B&B there are restaurants, pizzerias and other typical places where you can taste Carnic dishes, a newspaper kiosk, a chemist’s shop, and a bus stop.
Services included in the booking: Breakfast, linen, cleaning, heating. Extra services: In Summer guests can use bicycles to explore the surroundings, while in winter they can make use of a storage room to keep their ski equipment.
