The farm is situated in Val di Piele, a small valley next to lake of Trasimeno, between Toscana and Umbria.
Here you can spend a beautifull time full of nature.
You can also visit the most important towns and places of the two countries (es. Cortona, Assisi, Firenze, Siena etc...).

Pilari apartments are in the ancient village that is the farm heart and its origins are lost in the past. The oldest part of the village was built as a watch tower of Pierle castle near the XIII century. This castle was a very important fortress for Pierle valley and now it is a very important sign of the history valley. The watch tower basis was chiselled in the rock and you can still see this hard work in the wall of the cellar. During the time the tower became a farm house and the owner added other rooms so the house "grew". The last part was bulit in the 1922 and it is our house.
The house restored is the rear of the village and since some years ago one part was the house of the last farm worker. This apartment is called CASTAGNOLO because this is the nic name of this person. The other two apartments are: one was the stable (STALLA) and the other was a TABACCAIA (a big oven for dry tobacco leaves). In the garden, that surround the apartments, there is the swimming pool (12 metres x 6 metres 1,5 metres deep) with jacuzzi These three apartments are on three differt levels because the house was built as a stears to follow the path of the soil.

In each kitchen there is a stove with 4 cooker, fridge with freezer and all you need for cooking. Each apartments has indipendent entrace and heating and there is a loundry room with a washing machine. In the verandas and in the terrace there are tables with chairs and some sunchairs. In the village of Mercatale di Cortona, far about 1 km, you can find: 2 banks with bancomat, two supermarkets, three bars, a chemistry, a post office,
restourant and other services.

Description of CASTAGNOLO apartment:
This apartment is on two flats: at the first there are the sitting room with fireplace, one double bedroom with bathroom, the kitchen, other bathroom and a terrace and at the second level the other double bedroom. There is independed heating ad in the kitchen there is a stove with four cooker, fridge with freezer and all you need for cooking. In the sittingroom there is a sofa bed. This apartment is called Castagnolo because this is the nick name of the last farm worker who lived here.
Throught windows of the bedrooms and from the terrace you can see the wonderfull view of Pierle castle surrounded by the green hills of Val di Pierle (Pierle Valley).
These three apartments are on three differt levels because the house was built as a stears to follow the path of the soil.

Description of STALLA apartment:
In this apartment there are: a sittingroom with corner kitchen, a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a big veranda. In the sittingroom there is a sofa bed for another person and the kitchen corner has a stove with 4 cooker, electric oven and fridge with freezer. This apartment was a stable and in the bedroom you can still see the manger. This manger is made of rock and is a part of the house basis, so we decided to use it to lean a part of the bed. From veranda you can see a particular landscape of Val di Pierle (Pierle Valley) and the wonderfull view of Pierle castle.

Description of TABACCAIA apartment:
This apartment is on 2 flat: at the first there is the sittingroom with corner kitchen and the big veranda; ant the second flat there are two double bedrooms and the bathroom with shower. In the sittingroom there is a sofa bed for another person and the corner kitchen has a stove with 4 cooker, electric oven and fridge with freezer. This part of the house was used like a big oven to dry tobacco leaves because the tobacco plant was very important for the agricolture and economy of pierle valley.
Throught windows of the bedrooms and from the veranda you can see the wonderfull view of Pierle castle surrounded by the green hills of Val di Pierle (Pierle Valley).

In the garden, that surround the apartments, there is the swimming pool (12 metres x 6 metres 1,5 metres deep)with jacuzzi.
